Job summary

Housekeeping and Laundry Supervisor

This position is responsible for all housekeeping operations including hiring, training, and supervising housekeeping and laundry staff.

• Adheres to and conveys the philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for residents.
• Supervise the day-to-day housekeeping functions of assigned personnel.
• Must have high standards of cleanliness, have the ability to work within budgetary guidelines, and be able to develop staff to do the job.
• Assign personnel to specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.
• Coordinate daily housekeeping services when performing routine cleaning assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas.
• Ensure that personnel is performing assigned tasks in accordance with established housekeeping procedures.
• Ensure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manner.
• Ensure that housekeeping personnel follows established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
• Ensure that established Infection Control practices are maintained when performing housekeeping procedures.
• Perform housekeeping tasks, as required by facility, policies and procedures, and standard of excellence.
• Must be capable of operating and maintaining all housekeeping/laundry equipment (i.e., pressing machines, commercial washer/dryer, buffing machines, etc.).
• Knowledge of applicable state regulations.
• Experience with cost management and budgeting.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Infection Control, Hazardous Waste, Disaster Plan, etc.
• Ability to relate positively and communicate appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers, and other employees.
• Has compassion and special interest in working with the senior population.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and over time, to meet the requirements of the position.
• Available for on-call for emergencies.
• Ability to work safely and to recognize potentially dangerous situations.
• Basic knowledge of MS Office.
