Job summary

AdventHealth is hiring for a full-time Environmental Services associate in the Overland Park, KS area. The role supports infection control and patient- and public-area cleaning, with responsibilities including waste disposal, restocking supplies, and operating cleaning equipment.

The position requires English communication, basic computer skills, and a focus on safety and patient care. Training and adherence to hospital standards are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Healthcare environment janitorial experience preferred.
• Able to communicate in English.
• Basic computer skills.
• Read and understand Safety Data Sheets and labels.

Responsibilities

• Clean assigned areas daily and dispose of waste.
• Stock supplies and restock paper items and cleaning solutions.
• Operate cleaning equipment following infection control procedures.
• Document all work performed.
• Maintain bed management tracking with handheld devices.
• Access ancillary units and restrooms and offices as assigned.

Job Description:

• Shift: 8:00AM -- 4:30PM; every other weekend
• Compensation is based on experience, with trainees who have no prior experience starting at $18 per hour.
• Cleans assigned patient and public areas daily, including collecting and removing trash and sanitizing all surfaces.
• Stocks paper items, cleaning solutions and other supplies in assigned areas as necessary or designated.
• Demonstrates complete knowledge of infection control, isolation procedures, and proper operation of cleaning equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Utilizes Bed Management system to maintain productive flow of bed through put, using hand-held technology for tracking.
• Utilizes equipment that includes cleaning/trash cart, and other janitorial supplies.
• Collects and stages soiled linen for pick up.
• Disposes of normal and biohazardous waste.
• Cleans and disinfects areas containing bodily fluids in accordance with facility standards.
• Documents all work performed.
• Accesses ancillary units, restrooms, offices in assigned areas.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field [Required]
• Ability to maintain equipment and work areas in a clean and safe condition [Required]
• Able to communicate in English [Required]
• Basic computer skills and use of mouse and keyboard [Required]
• Must be able to operate a computer using standard office software [Required]
• Excellent customer service skills [Required]
• Ability to interact with patients [Required]
• Must be able to read and understand Safety Data Sheets, product labels, various reports, and perform basic arithmetic [Required]
• Must be able to follow oral and written assignments and have full knowledge of basic environmental duties [Required]
• Environmental services experience within a healthcare environment [Preferred]
• Knowledge of additional languages [Preferred]

Education:

High School Grad or Equiv [Preferred]

Work Experience:

Housekeeping or custodial experience [Preferred]
