Job summary

AdventHealth in Overland Park, Kansas is seeking a dedicated Environmental Services Associate to maintain clean patient and public areas in adherence with hospital standards.

Compensation is based on experience, with trainees who have no prior experience starting at $18 per hour. The role requires infection control knowledge, proper equipment operation, and strong customer service as you support patient care in a fast-paced facility.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to read and follow safety data sheets and labels.
• Basic computer skills and use of standard office software.
• Able to operate cleaning equipment and maintain clean environments.
• Infection control knowledge and adherence to procedures.
• Healthcare environment experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean assigned patient and public areas daily, collect trash, and sanitize surfaces.
• Stock supplies and ensure availability of items in designated areas.
• Maintain infection control practices and operate cleaning equipment properly.
• Document all work performed and use Bed Management or tracking tools as needed.
• Handle waste (including biohazardous) per facility standards and safety rules.
• Interact professionally with patients and staff; follow written and oral tasks.

Job Description:

Shift: 8:00AM -- 4:30PM; every other weekend

Compensation is based on experience, with trainees who have no prior experience starting at $18 per hour.

Cleans assigned patient and public areas daily, including collecting and removing trash and sanitizing all surfaces. Stocks paper items, cleaning solutions and other supplies in assigned areas as necessary or designated. Demonstrates complete knowledge of infection control, isolation procedures, and proper operation of cleaning equipment. Other duties as assigned. Utilizes Bed Management system to maintain productive flow of bed through put, using hand-held technology for tracking. Utilizes equipment that includes cleaning/trash cart, and other janitorial supplies. Collects and stages soiled linen for pick up. Disposes of normal and biohazardous waste. Cleans and disinfects areas containing bodily fluids in accordance with facility standards. Documents all work performed. Accesses ancillary units, restrooms, offices in assigned areas.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field [Required]
• Ability to maintain equipment and work areas in a clean and safe condition [Required]
• Able to communicate in English [Required]
• Basic computer skills and use of mouse and keyboard [Required]
• Must be able to operate a computer using standard office software [Required]
