Job summary

The voco Times Square South, New York, an IHG Hotel is seeking a Housekeeping Manager to oversee morning and evening shifts and ensure outstanding service and cleanliness across rooms, public areas, laundry and supplies.

You will lead the housekeeping team, uphold brand standards, manage inventory and costs, train staff, and maintain a positive work environment to deliver a memorable guest stay.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years related experience in the Housekeeping Department.
• Knowledge of custodial procedures, floor care, waste management and recycling.
• Ability to multitask under high-pressure situations.

General Description

This role reports to the Director of Housekeeping. As Housekeeping Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the hotel's Housekeeping operations, including both morning and evening shifts, and ensuring the Housekeeping team can meet business needs while delivering outstanding service and performance. The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for supervising and coordinating the daily activities of the housekeeping department, ensuring smooth operations across all areas, including rooms, public places, laundry, and supplies. The Housekeeping Manager is expected to maintain the highest level of cleanliness, presentation, and efficiency while adhering to brand standards and achieving guest satisfaction. This position requires strong attention to detail, leadership skills, organizational abilities, effective time management, and the ability to interact effectively with guests and team members.

Primary Duties

• Primary duties include supervising the Housekeeping Department's day-to-day functions on the AM and PM shifts.
• Monitor standards and work performance by inspecting rooms and public areas daily to ensure compliance with brand standards, service, and training requirements.
• Manage the team to meet guest service scores as required by the brand and achieve high-level opinion survey scores.
• Responsible for maintaining good morale and a positive work environment that promotes respect and dignity.
• Make routine daily rounds of the hotel at any time, performing random inspections in all areas to ensure the expected hotel brand standard is consistently maintained.
• Implement standard operating procedures for routine tasks to enable the team to develop consistent work habits.
• Solid understanding of housekeeping, laundry, supplies, and minibars and pars.
• Establish inventory records and control linen, cleaning supplies, chemicals, guest supplies, room and bathroom supplies, and OS&E to control expenses and minimize waste.
• Staff daily while adhering to productivity standards and budgetary constraints.
• Check all equipment in the Housekeeping Department to ensure it is used correctly, reducing costs and breakage.
• Order supplies and replacements as needed.
• Train and develop the team as directed.
• Adhere to Lost & Found procedures.
• Maintain good liaison with the Engineering Department for any necessary repairs and to expedite significant maintenance or special requests for special occasions and purposes.
• With minimal supervision, plan and carry out the duties (and additional duties) listed above.
• Perform all duties, other than those requested by the hotel management or direct supervisor.
• The physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Education and Experience

• A minimum of two years of related experience in the Housekeeping Department, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that is related
• Knowledge of custodial procedures, including floor care, waste management, and recycling programs
• Ability to multitask under high-pressure situations

Compensation

The anticipated compensation range for the position for applicants working in NYC is $65,000 K annually. The annual salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on several factors, including but not limited to years of experience in the job, years of experience in the required industry, education, and other relevant qualifications.
