Job summary

Fairmont Orchid is a luxury resort on Hawai'i Island seeking a Housekeeping Manager to uphold luxury standards and lead the housekeeping team with the Assistant Director. You will recruit, train, and coach staff while maintaining guest satisfaction and brand integrity across all guest areas.

Qualifications

  • Previous leadership experience, required.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain good relationships with all stakeholders.

  • Focus on guest needs with calm, courteous demeanor.
  • Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in English.
  • Knowledge of additional languages is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Upholding brand (LQA) standards of the department.
  • Review LQA audits to identify areas of improvement and implement initiatives.
  • Manage all housekeeping colleagues including interviewing, retention, training, coaching and discipline.
  • Maintain colleague performance logs and elevate concerns to ADOH.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure quality standards and SOPs are followed.
  • Assist in maximizing hotel profitability by managing expenses, labor and resources.
  • Oversee payroll, scheduling and housekeeping operations.
  • Oversee inventory and PAR levels.
  • Own all guest complaints to ensure complete satisfaction.
  • Guarantee 100% quality of VIP and Site Visit rooms.
  • Involvement in special projects.
  • Support the Director of Housekeeping in absence of the Assistant Director.

Job Description

The Housekeeping Manager will be responsible for the assurance of meeting and exceeding the luxury standards of Housekeeping that is expected at Fairmont Orchid. This individual will succeed by working with the Assistant Director in recruiting for the best talent, perpetuating superior training/retraining and ensuring standards are consistently upheld. We are looking for someone with a passion for people and a relentless commitment to ensure the highest levels of satisfaction for both our guests and colleagues.


What You Will Be Doing


  • Upholding brand (LQA) standards of the department.

  • Review LQA audits to identify areas of improvement and implement initiatives to improve service.

  • Manage all housekeeping colleagues to include interviewing, retention, training, coaching and discipline.

  • Maintain colleague performance logs and elevate concerns to ADOH.

  • Conduct continuous inspections of all areas to ensure that quality standards are being met and SOPs are being followed.

  • Assist in maximizing hotel profitability by property managing expenses, labor and other resources.

  • Assist in the administrative and management of the Housekeeping operation to include but not limited to payroll, scheduling and other duties.

  • Oversee inventory and top off PAR levels as needed.

  • Own all guest complaints at the highest level and follow though to ensure complete satisfaction.

  • Guarantee 100% quality of all VIP and Site Visit rooms.

  • Involvement in special projects.

  • In the absence of the Assistant Director of Housekeeping, assist the Director of Housekeeping to ensure all responsibilities and tasks are met.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Housekeeping and Assistant Director of Housekeeping.


Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:



  • Previous leadership experience, required

  • Proven ability to build and maintain good relationships with all stakeholders

  • Ability to lead by example, belief in a strong team culture and sets the scene for high performance.

  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times

  • Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in English language

  • Ability to speak other languages and basic understanding of local languages will be an advantage ('Olelo Hawai'i/Ilocano/Tagalog)

  • Ability to work cohesively and collaboratively as part of a team

  • Detailed & service oriented with an eye for detail to be self-motivated and energetic.

  • Recognized commitment to cleanliness and exceeding guest expectations

  • Self-motivation and organizational skills with the initiative and ability to complete projects in a timely manner and proven ability to work under pressure

  • An operational knowledge and proficiency in Property Management System (Opera) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)


Additional Information


Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000 USD


Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in the United States. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining U.S. work authorization.
