Fairmont Orchid on Hawai‘i Island is seeking an enthusiastic hospitality professional to join Binchotan Bar & Grille. Join a luxury dining team delivering warm, personal service in a fast-paced, upscale environment and contribute to guests' memorable experiences.

You will provide unique dining experiences, maintain knowledge of F&B offerings, mix drinks, uphold HACCP standards, and work with a collaborative team. Hourly rate is $30.68 USD; visa eligibility required; hotel-wide benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Good reading, writing and oral proficiency in English language.
• Ability to work cohesively and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Additional certification in Food & Beverage (Blue Liquor Card) will be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Provide unique dining experiences to all guests through warm, personal and detailed service in a luxury, upscale and fast paced environment.
• Ensure a positive first impression of the restaurant for guests through cleanliness, setup and ambiance control.
• Maintain complete knowledge of all F&B services, contents and preparation methods, outlets and hotel services/features.
• Create new beverage/cocktails to suit guests’ needs and upsell food and beverage offers to maximize revenue.
• Mix and create drinks for servers.
• Ensure guests receive warm welcome, timely service and a fond farewell.
• Remember guest names and preferences for personalized service.
• Serve food and beverages according to service standards and verify patrons’ ages.
• Support cash handling for servers and maintain tidy bar area.

Job Description

Binchotan Bar & Grille is where fireside cooking meets modern flair. At Fairmont Orchid’s hottest new restaurant guests explore the long-running creative culinary exchange between Hawai’i and Japan at our Traditional northern Japanese grill utilizing centuries-old practices of robatayaki: fireside cooking, grilled to perfection. Originating from Hokkaidō, Japan, robatayaki reflects the seafaring lifestyle: seasoned fishermen grilling up their fresh catch over the irori, or glowing white coals, served sizzling hot.

What You Will Be Doing

• Provide unique dining experiences to all of our guests through warm, personal & detailed service in a luxury, upscale and fast paced environment.


• Ensure a positive first impression of the restaurant for our guests through detailed cleanliness, set-up and ambiance control.


• Maintain complete knowledge of all F&B services, contents & preparation methods, outlets and hotel services/features


• Creation of new beverage/cocktails to suit guests’ needs. Up-sell and promote other food and beverage offers at every available opportunity to maximize sales revenue.


• Mix and create drinks for all servers.


• Ensure guests receive warm welcome, timely service & a fond farewell


• Try to remember individual patron’s names and their preferences to extend a personalized service


• Ensure that all food & beverage are served according to service standard


• Properly identifying the age of all patrons.


• Tend to cashier duties for servers for cash payments.


• Clear and tidy up bar counter after the departure of the patrons as quickly as possible


• Perform opening/closing side duties as assigned and set bar service areas according to standards and procedures


• Assist other Food & Beverage outlets with their operations during peak times or when required


• Apply necessary precautions with regards to the hotel food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP)


• Be well versed in hotel fire & life safety/emergency procedures


• Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times


• Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the Management of the Hotel

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include

• Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times


• Good reading, writing and oral proficiency in English language


• Ability to speak other languages and basic understanding of local languages will be an advantage


• Ability to work cohesively and collaboratively as part of a team


• Detailed & service oriented with an eye for detail to be self-motivated and energetic.


• Provide the necessary State and Federal Requirements to work in Food and Beverage (Tuberculosis Clearance)


• Additional certification(s) in Food & Beverage will be an advantage (Blue Liquor Card)

Hourly Rate: $30.68 USD

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in the United States. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining U.S. work authorization.
