Position Overview

Job Summary

The Environmental Services Assistant is primarily responsible for performing the day-to-day activities of the Environmental Services Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility, as directed by the Executive Director or Environmental Services Supervisor, to ensure the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Follow work/cleaning schedules closely.
• Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor within 24 hours, regardless of severity.
• Participate in scheduled educational and training programs, including OSHA and CDC in-service training.
• Maintain adequate supplies in utility/janitorial closets.
• Report malfunctioning lights and fixtures promptly.
• Assist in lifting heavy equipment and supplies as needed.
• Keep work and supply areas clean and organized, ensuring equipment is cleaned and stored properly.
• Perform daily environmental cleaning tasks, including cleaning furnishings, fixtures, and surfaces.
• Sanitize bathroom fixtures and remove water marks.
• Clean windows, mirrors, floors, carpets, walls, and ceilings, using appropriate safety precautions.
• Dispose of waste properly, including infectious waste.
• Clean vacant rooms and perform infection control cleaning procedures.
• Ensure work areas are tidy, and equipment is stored properly before breaks or end of shift.

Qualifications

High School / GED required.

Physical Requirements

Sitting, standing, bending, reaching, stretching, stooping, walking, lifting at least 50 lbs., and good communication skills are required.
