Position Overview

Job Summary

The Environmental Services Assistant is responsible for performing daily activities of the Environmental Services Department in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. They work under the direction of the Executive Director and/or Environmental Services Supervisor to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable facility.

Roles And Responsibilities

1. Follow work/cleaning schedules closely.
2. Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor within 24 hours, regardless of severity.
3. Attend in-service educational classes and on-the-job training as scheduled.
4. Participate in annual OSHA and CDC training on hazard communication, TB management, and bloodborne pathogens.
5. Maintain supplies in utility/janitorial closets.
6. Report equipment issues such as burned out lights to your supervisor.
7. Assist in lifting heavy equipment and supplies as needed.
8. Clean work and supply carts, equipment, and ensure proper storage at shift end.
9. Perform assigned environmental services tasks daily, including cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, fixtures, floors, carpets, walls, and windows.
10. Empty and sanitize trash and waste containers properly.
11. Follow infection control procedures during cleaning, especially in isolation areas.
12. Ensure work areas are clean and equipment is stored properly before breaks and at shift end.

Qualifications

Education: High School / GED

Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit, stand, bend, reach, stretch, and lift at least 50 lbs. Good communication skills required.
