Job summary

Responsibilities

• Lead orientation and training for new housekeeping staff and complete training paperwork.
• Coach and counsel housekeeping employees to improve performance.
• Develop and maintain training procedures for new and existing staff; follow up on training.
• Occasionally prepare work schedules for business levels forecasted by management.
• Inspect rooms daily to ensure standards; conduct training sessions and department meetings.
• Inspect public areas twice daily and enforce cleanliness standards.
• Coordinate with Front Desk to inform of available clean rooms and report results.
• Maintain supplies and ensure proper storage of chemicals; follow OSHA/HAZCOM procedures.
• Maintain key control and issue keys to room attendants.
• Coordinate special cleaning projects to uphold high standards of cleanliness.
• Maintain lost and found and process item returns; secure storage at all times.
• Promote safety and security topics in department meetings.
• Maintain equipment and assist maintenance with issue resolution.
• Handle guest complaints and requests to ensure satisfaction.
• Perform other duties as requested.

POSITION SUMMARY

Leads the team in maintaining and exceeding Brand cleanliness standards and procedures within the housekeeping department (including laundry) to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and appearance in the public areas and guestrooms.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES -THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

• Participates in the orientation and job training of each new housekeeping employee; completes all appropriate training paperwork.
• Coaches and counsels employees in Housekeeping in a positive fashion to produce improved work performance.
• Create and maintain effective training procedures to ensure that all new and existing employees are properly equipped to execute their jobs. Personally follow up with new employees to assure they are receiving the proper training.
• Occasionally prepare work schedules to efficiently handle expected business levels forecasted by the Executive Housekeeping Manager.
• Inspect all rooms each day to ensure that proper standards are being maintain. Conduct individual and group training sessions and regular department meetings to correct deficiencies.
• Personally inspect all public areas at least twice daily (morning and afternoon) to ensure they are clean. Instill an attitude in all Housekeeping employees; that is pro-actively responsible for correcting any cleanliness problem found.
• Ensure Housekeeping department coordinates with the Front Desk regularly through the morning to inform them of clean rooms that are available. Assure that a representative of Housekeeping works with the Front Desk in the afternoon to ensure that the Housekeeping Report results are compare against the room rack.
• Maintain sufficient levels of supplies necessary to effectively operate the Housekeeping Department.
• Ensure the proper storage, usage and disposal of all chemical agents utilized by Housekeeping. Ensure that all OSHA and HAZCOM procedures are followed.
• Maintains effective key control, including issuing of keys to room attendants and handling of guest room keys left behind.
• Coordinates special project work, such as mattress top cleaning, deep cleaning, carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning, etc., to ensure high standards of cleanliness and comfort to the guest.
• Maintain lost and found. Enforce policy that all items found are to be lock up and recorded. After 90 days, items turned in may be distributed appropriately to the finder. Handle guest inquiries and process items to be return to the guest COD in a timely manner. Ensure that lost and found storage is secure at all times.
• Aggressively promotes the hotel’s policies on safety and security to all employees. Participate in departmental meeting to discuss monthly safety and security topics.
• Maintain assigned equipment, including but not limited to, vacuums, laundry equipment, carpet shampooers, etc. Cleans rooms when business conditions require.
• Works closely with maintenance to ensure that problems found in the rooms are communicated promptly and follow up to make sure they are corrected.
• Handles guest complaints and requests efficiently to ensure high guest satisfaction.
• Performs other duties as requested.
