Job summary

Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO is seeking an Environmental Services Technician to perform cleaning and sanitation tasks across the healthcare facility. The role supports infection control standards and regulatory compliance to promote patient healing in a hygienic environment.

Full-Time (40 hours/week) with Evening shifts. Prior hospital environmental service experience is preferred, along with a High School diploma or equivalent.

• Preferred Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent. Prior hospital environmental service experience. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Prior experience with manual tasks. Prior experience working with the public; customer service.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning and sanitation tasks throughout Mercy hospital facilities.
• Ensure compliance with infection control standards and regulatory requirements.
• Promote a healthy and hygienic environment to support patient healing and well-being.
• Assist in maintaining clean patient care areas and public spaces.

Experience: Prior Hospital Environmental service experience. Prior work experience following written and verbal instructions. Previous experience with performing manual tasks. Prior experience working with the public; customer service.

Physical Requirements

• Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
