Job Description
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM (Works Every Weekend and Every Holiday)
- Location: Feinberg/Galter; FL BS
- Union Hourly Compensation: $20.00 per hour (+ $0.97/hour for shift pay differential, non-negotiable). The role is graded as non-exempt, meaning you are eligible for overtime.
The Housekeeping Assistant II reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Working under general supervision of an Environmental Services supervisor, the Housekeeping Assistant II performs a variety of cleaning functions inside the hospital and performs related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Vacuum carpeted surfaces and damp mop hard surface floors.
- Clean window sills, empty ash trays and waste baskets.
- Arrange furniture in patient rooms, baths, offices, waiting and other public areas as assigned.
- Clean bathtubs, sinks, mirrors, toilets and replace supplies as required.
- Strip units upon discharge.
- Terminally clean patient rooms and prepare for admission, including use of Tent card and toilet seat strip.
- Clean blood and body fluids.
- While generally assigned to a specific area, may be dispatched to other areas as needed.
- Refinish floors, applying appropriate surface coatings.
- Operate electrical and battery-operated machines for scrubbing, shampooing, and burnishing.
- Move furniture as directed and assist in freight moving.
- Wash walls, blinds, lights and similar surfaces, hang cubicles and drapes.
- Maintain and clean equipment, returning it to the proper location upon completion.
- Keep janitor's closet and storage area neat and orderly.
- Perform all heavy-duty mopping and cleaning duties in offices, patient rooms, utility rooms, laboratories, public areas, stairways, and elevators with hospital-approved chemicals.
- Use ladders and scaffolds as necessary.
- Clean, wash, polish and scrub floors using electric scrubbing machines, wet vacuums, and buffers.
- Apply floor finishes as directed.
- Empty trash chutes and clean waste containers.
- Report unsanitary, unsafe, or defective conditions and fixtures to supervisor.
- Collect trash and debris, remove and compact waste and recyclables, and dispose of Bio-Hazard waste properly.
- Move heavy furniture and equipment as needed.
- Clean hospital equipment and related items.
- Strip, refinish, and shampoo all types of floor surfaces and coverings.
- Transport hospital property between areas or buildings.
- Utilize the Bed Tracking Program: log in at the start of shift, update bed status during cleaning, and log out at the end.
- Return all keys and pagers.
- Maintain knowledge of equipment and cleaning solutions, adhere to standards, and maintain neatness and professionalism.

Qualifications
Required:
- Sufficient to understand oral instructions.
- Sufficient knowledge of cleaning equipment, methods, and solutions.
Preferred:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
