Job summary

Barbourville Health & Rehabilitation Center in Barbourville, KY is hiring a full-time or part-time Housekeeping Aide. No education or prior experience is required, but is preferred.

You will maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the facility and assist the Housekeeping/Laundry Supervisor to keep resident areas tidy, safe and welcoming. Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of cleaning and sanitation.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic in all units.
  • Ability to multitask with minimal supervision.
  • Follow written and oral instructions.
  • Good interpersonal skills to work with staff and visitors.
  • Ability to manage supplies and maintain clean work areas.
  • Willingness to learn and adopt new cleaning methods.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness, appearance and maintenance of the facility and furnishings.
  • Work with Housekeeping/Laundry Supervisor to implement changes as needed.
  • Follow all housekeeping procedures per established policies.
  • Clean designated outside areas, porches and patios.
  • Provide daily cleaning, sanitizing and deodorizing of resident and public areas.
  • Perform window cleaning, waxing and polishing as assigned.
  • Keep areas clean and orderly throughout the day.
  • Discard trash properly in labeled containers.
  • Reline trash receptacles to ensure proper waste disposal.
  • Present a clean, personable appearance to visitors.
  • Refer questions about the facility to Supervisors.
  • Perform cleaning per sanitary regulations and policies.
  • Report accidents/incidents as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.

  • Ensures the physical cleanliness, appearance and maintenance of the inside of the facility and its equipment and furnishing.
  • Works with the Housekeeping/Laundry Supervisor to implement recommended changes as required.
  • Ensures that all housekeeping procedures are followed in accordance with all established policies and procedures.
  • Cleans designated outside areas, scrubs porches, patios, etc.
  • Provides daily cleaning, sanitizing, and deodorizing of all resident and public areas.
  • Provides periodic cleaning of windows, walls, floor waxing, and polishing. Furniture washing, polishing upholstery cleaning, etc., as assigned.
  • Ensures that all areas of the facility are clean and orderly throughout the day.
  • Ensures that trash/waste is discarded to properly labeled containers.
  • Relines trash receptacles with correct liners to ensure that all waste is identified correctly and discarded properly.
  • Must present a clean, personable appearance to visitors and others.
  • Must refer all questions about the facility and residents to Supervisors.
  • Performs all cleaning assignments in accordance with sanitary regulations, as well as, with our established policies and procedures.
  • Report all accidents/incidents as established by facility policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with other employees, management, visitors, outside contractors, and the general public.

  • Must have the ability to minimize waste of supplies, misuse of equipment, etc.
  • Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing maintenance practices.

Physical Demands and Abilities

The physical demands and work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job.   • Must be able to lift, push, pull and move a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
  • Must be able to raise arms over head in order lift or reach the top of surfaces for cleaning.
  • Must be able to stoop and bend over in order to pick up objects, wipe baseboards, or clean and sanitize bath tubes and showers.
  • Must be able to push or pull objects in access of 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to speak and write the English language.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times hostile people within the facility.
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
Other Requirements
  • May be required to attend activities outside the facility to stay abreast of new developments, best practices, and statutory and regulatory changes.
  • May be required to work holidays, weekends or evenings.
  • Must maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information.

Experience
Preferred

Prior experience in a janitorial, custodial, or housekeeping position, preferably in healthcare is PREFERRED, but not required.
