POSITION TITLE: Housekeeper

DEPARTMENT: Housekeeping

REPORTS TO: Director of Housekeeping

PAY STATUS: Hourly

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director of Housekeeping, the Housekeeper is responsible for cleaning resident rooms and other interior and exterior facility areas and assisting in maintaining a clean and attractive environment for the residents. The person holding this position is delegated the responsibility for carrying out the assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with current existing federal and state regulations and established company policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

A. Role Responsibilities – Job Knowledge/Duties:

1. 1. Reports to work as scheduled. Attends all mandatory in-services by employee’s anniversary date
2. 2. Complies with all facility policies and procedures
3. 3. Acts appropriately under the direction of the Director of Housekeeping and acts as a part of the interdisciplinary team
4. 4. Cleans and straightens (including vacuuming, wiping, moping, polishing, etc.) rooms, offices, and common areas; polish and remove items; ensure resident’s rooms are safe, comfortable and maintained in an attractive manner
5. 5. Demonstrates ability to adjust to changes in shift assignments to meet facility needs
6. 6. Cleans and sanitizes areas of responsibility according to facility policy and procedure
7. 7. Moves and arranges residents furniture and equipment as directed by the supervisor
8. 8. Cleans residents dining areas at the completion of meal service and adheres to weekly cleaning schedule of the dining area
9. 9. Cleans and sanitizes resident bathrooms and common bath areas
10. 10. Cleans and maintains windows and wall in resident rooms and common areas
11. 11. Complies with weekly departmental cleaning schedule
12. 12. Adheres to all cleaning chemical hazards as indicated on supplies
13. 13. Observes rules of sanitation at all times
14. 14. Demonstrates knowledge of and complies with the Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program when performing work functions
15. 15. Other duties as assigned by Director of Housekeeping

B. Role Responsibilities - Interpersonal Skills:

1. 1. Is aware of, and adheres to, Resident’s Bill of Rights and Confidentiality of Resident Information 1 Housekeeper
2. 2. Interacts with residents and family members, co-workers, clinical and ancillary staff in a non-judgmental, supportive and calm manner
3. 3. Addresses family satisfaction issues immediately by reporting them to the supervisor in a professional manner
4. 4. Is aware of Resident Abuse Reporting Law

C. Role Responsibilities - Safety:

1. 1. Demonstrates ability to locate emergency equipment (i.e. fire extinguisher)
2. 2. Demonstrates ability to identify and respond appropriately to potential behavioral outbursts
3. 3. Uses facility equipment safely
4. 4. Recognizes, removes, an/or reports potential hazards
5. 5. Follows established safety rules/accident prevention
6. 6. Observes rules of safety at all times including complying with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) guidelines for chemical use

D. Role Responsibilities – Infection Control:

1. 1. Demonstrates proper hand washing techniques
2. 2. Disposes of waste properly
3. 3. Complies with departmental dress code
4. 4. Complies with all established infection control and standard precaution practices when performing housekeeping procedures

E. Role Responsibilities – Resident Care/Dignity:

1. 1. Addresses residents in a respectful manner and knocks before entering residents’ rooms
2. 2. Discusses confidential resident information in appropriate areas only
3. 3. Understands and complies with all rules regarding residents’ rights

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

1. 1. Possess a high school diploma or sufficient knowledge and education to perform job functions
2. 2. Understand and carry out oral and written directions
3. 3. Is capable of setting work priorities and working independently in the absence of supervision
4. 4. Must meet health assessment requirements, including two-stage Mantoux skin test
5. 5. Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, and possess sufficient communication skills to perform the tasks required
6. 6. Must be capable of performing the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations
