Job summary

Monroe Aquatic and Fitness Center is seeking a reliable custodian to perform semiskilled care and cleaning of the facility under moderate supervision. The role includes maintaining clean floors, restrooms, locker rooms, and equipment, as well as stocking towels and supplies for guests.

The position requires the ability to move heavy loads, operate cleaning tools, and set up rooms for events, with an emphasis on safety and sanitation for a busy community facility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with minimal custodial experience.
• Must be able to perform medium to light physical work including lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in North Carolina.

Responsibilities

• Washes, dries, folds, and stocks shelves with towels.
• Collects used towels; delivers clean towels to the appropriate areas.
• Cleans and supplies restrooms and locker rooms.
• Sweeps, mops, and vacuums and cleans carpets.
• Gathers and disposes of refuse, litter, and trash from buildings and grounds.
• Sets up rooms for special events.
• Cleans refrigerators, microwaves, and stove; loads, unloads, and starts dishwasher.
• Cleans and sanitizes aerobics and Kids Connection rooms at end of each night or as required.
• Cleans messes and accidents as needed.
• Performs related tasks as required.

Job description

Performs semiskilled work in the care and cleaning of buildings and facilities; does related work as required. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Facility Maintenance Supervisor.

This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, assembly or fabrication of parts at or within arm’s length, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, and determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work; the worker is subject to inside environmental conditions, vibration, and atmospheric conditions. The worker may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and minimal custodial experience.

Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina.
