Job summary

A health care facility in Alabama is seeking a Housekeeping Staff member to maintain cleanliness and safety within the facility. Responsibilities include performing various housekeeping tasks, adhering to health and safety regulations, and ensuring that residents' living spaces are kept clean and comfortable. Overview

BOTH LOCATIONS ARE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS, Ridgeview and Ridgewood Health Care Services. Performs the day-to-day activities of the Housekeeping Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator, and/or the Director of Housekeeping/Supervisor of Housekeeping, to assure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner. Knowledge and experience of housekeeping operations and equipment and long term care facility experience is a plus! Multiple shifts, will discuss hours and pay at interview.

Major Duties And Responsibilities
  • Performs housekeeping duties, preventive cleaning tasks and assigned custodial duties in all areas of the facility ensuring the facility environment meets the physical, social and spiritual needs of each resident/family.
  • Performs duties including but not limited to: floor maintenance programs, deep cleaning programs, trash maintenance, equipment cleaning, waste management and transportation of clean and soiled linens.
  • Keep record of linen distribution; check floor linen supplies and lists linen use.
  • Operate mechanical floor cleaners, buffers, vacuums, and related environmental service equipment.
  • Adheres to daily, weekly and monthly cleaning check off lists, workplace policies, audit sheets and routines.
  • Knowledgeable of inventory and supplies and informs supervisor of needs.
  • Keeps work areas free of hazardous conditions, (i.e. spills, egress, etc.).
  • Assist others in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc., as directed or requested.
  • Move furniture and other heavy objects as required.
  • Adhere to all policy and procedures when performing job functions; i.e., fire safety, hazardous materials, lifting safety, etc.
  • Follow infection control, standard precautions, and OSHA guidelines when performing daily tasks.
  • Ensures daily the neatness and cleanliness of resident's living rooms and common areas including but not limited to rooms and equipment including: furniture, clothes closets, mobility devices, tub/bathrooms, utility rooms and services.
  • Establishes and maintains good team relationships, as well as interdepartmental relationships by assisting members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure the need of the residents are met.
  • Participates in continuing education, relevant to Job Description and LTC, to ensure skills and abilities are maintained and enhanced.
  • Follows code of ethics in procurement, handling of confidential information and personal conduct.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident information included protected health care information.
  • Recognize your role as part of QAPI efforts of your organization.
  • Attend training to build understanding and capacity to undertake QAPI work.
  • Carry out QAPI role as assigned.
  • Follow established policies and procedures in support of QAPI efforts.
  • Look for and share with leadership ideas for improvement within the organization.
  • Communicate to leadership upon witnessing a positive outcome of a QAPI project or detecting barriers preventing project success.
  • Support QAPI efforts both verbally and non-verbally (i.e., via actions and attitude) including adjusting performance and practice in accordance with QAPI initiatives and findings.
  • Performs all other duties that may be assigned.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
  • Moves intermittently during working hours.
  • Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and ability to work effectively with residents, personal.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel and visitors.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, you will be regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The housekeeping person may be required to perform tasks, which involve exposure to visible blood contamination or reasonably anticipated blood contamination. He/she must be knowledgeable about OSHA Blood-borne Pathogen Standard and Exposure Control Plan for Blood-borne Pathogens and must follow the required procedure for handling, cleaning, disposing, or moving of objects/materials and the clean-up of blood, infectious materials, or body fluids containing blood.
