Job summary

Gardner White Furniture & Mattress is seeking a part-time Housekeeping Associate to maintain cleanliness and organization across our retail and warehouse spaces. You will help create a safe, welcoming environment for customers and staff through meticulous cleaning and upkeep.

Responsibilities include floor care, restroom sanitation, trash removal, and replenishing supplies, while following safety guidelines for cleaning chemicals and PPE usage.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or preferred.
• Experience in housekeeping/janitorial is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of safety procedures related to cleaning chemicals is a plus.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills are important.
• Understanding of PPE and proper use of cleaning chemicals is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain retail and warehouse areas, including floors, surfaces, restrooms, and customer seating areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and scrub floors regularly in high-traffic zones and entryways.
• Dust and wipe down surfaces, shelves, fixtures, and displays to maintain a tidy appearance.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, replenish supplies as needed.
• Empty trash/recycling bins and replace liners.
• Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and restroom amenities.
• Follow safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain retail and warehouse areas, including floors, surfaces, restrooms, and customer seating areas, to uphold cleanliness standards and enhance the overall shopping experience.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and scrub floors regularly to remove dirt, debris, and spills, paying special attention to high-traffic areas and entryways.
• Dust and wipe down surfaces, shelves, fixtures, and displays to remove dust, fingerprints, and smudges, maintaining a tidy and presentable appearance.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms regularly, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and countertops, replenishing supplies as needed to ensure a clean and hygienic environment.
• Empty trash receptacles and recycling bins throughout the facility, disposing of waste properly and replacing liners as needed.
• Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and restroom amenities, notifying management of any shortages or maintenance issues.
• Follow safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries, including proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Other duties/projects as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a retail store environment.

Requirements

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand during the entire shift.
• Must be able to lift and/or move, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications needed to perform this position

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Previous experience in housekeeping or janitorial services, preferably in a retail or warehouse environment, is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines related to cleaning chemicals and equipment is a plus.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues.
• Thorough understanding of safety hazards, personal protection equipment (PPE), and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
