Position Description

The purpose of this position is to maintain the upkeep and cleanliness of Wilmington Police Department facilities for staff, visitors, and tenants. Responsibilities include locking and unlocking buildings, purchasing supplies, moving furniture, running errands, and assisting with special events. Other related duties may be assigned.

Typical Tasks
  1. Cleans floors and stairs in entryways, hallways, offices, and outside walkways, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, buffing, shampooing, spot cleaning, stripping, refinishing, waxing, and pressure washing.
  2. Sanitizes and disinfects restrooms, including walls, doors, hardware, lockers, toilets, urinals, showers, floors, sinks, mirrors, and replenishes supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and hand sanitizer.
  3. Disinfects surfaces in elevators, kitchens, break rooms, offices, and hallways, including doors, windows, sills, HVAC grills, and other surfaces.
  4. Cleans furniture, tabletops, chairs, and office equipment, including dusting computers, fire sprinklers, desks, blinds, and cubicles.
  5. Disposes of trash and cleans trash cans as needed.
  6. Sets up chairs and tables for meetings.
  7. Blows off sidewalks, patios, doors, and drains around buildings.
  8. Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies, stocks, delivers supplies, and notifies supervisor for reordering.
  9. Reports repair needs to supervisor.
  10. Maintains and keeps cleaning tools and machines in safe, working condition.
  11. Performs work during emergency/disaster situations.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Note: Employees may work in both indoor and outdoor environments and be exposed to hazards such as chemicals and human body fluids, complying with OSHA bloodborne pathogen standards. The role may require being called back after hours and reporting during inclement weather.

Qualifications
Formal Education

Ability to read and understand written instructions, comprehend simple processes, and operate routine machines. Knowledge level is equivalent to less than high school or GED.

Experience

At least one year of relevant experience.

Certification & Other Requirements

Class C Driver's License.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

Ability to exert 20-50 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10 lbs. constantly. The position involves standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, lifting, reaching, kneeling, twisting, balancing, and talking.
