We are currently accepting applications for a Housekeeper at the Samarcand Training Academy for the North Carolina Department of Public Safety.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) 1ST SHIFT, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM with state benefits including retirement, health insurance, vacation leave, sick leave, and paid holidays. NC OSHR: Total Compensation Calculator

The primary purpose of this position is to perform housekeeping duties in an assigned area of the Samarcand Training Academy. Employees follow a work schedule covering all phases of housekeeping to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for students, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities include cleaning dorm rooms, classrooms, offices, and common areas, such as:

  • Cleaning ceilings, vents, and walls.
  • Polishing furniture.
  • Dusting, mopping, and vacuuming.
  • Wet mopping hard surface floors.
  • Maintaining floors including stripping, waxing, and buffing.
  • Shampooing carpets.
  • Washing windows, screens, and blinds.
  • Cleaning and changing soiled or worn linen, pillows, and bed covers.
  • Replenishing restrooms with towels, toilet paper, and soap.
  • Cleaning lavatories, commodes, urinals, mirrors, showers, and tubs.

Work is performed under close supervision with regular inspections and specific instructions for general and special tasks.

Physical work includes:

  • Extending arms over head, lifting mop buckets, pushing heavy carts.
  • Removing trash from all receptacles, including up to 55-gallon containers.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Climbing ladders to clean windows and dust.
  • Moving or sliding heavy furniture up to 200 pounds.

ADA physical requirements will be discussed during the interview.

About Samarcand Training Academy:

Samarcand Training Academy is the primary training facility within the Department of Public Safety, offering various training courses for law enforcement, military, and other public safety personnel across North Carolina. It includes two campuses: the main campus in Moore County and a satellite campus in Montgomery County, with extensive facilities for training, housing, and recreation.
