Job Description
The room attendant works under the direction of the Executive Housekeeper and the Assistant General Manager or General Manager. Responsibilities include following a daily schedule, properly cleaning guest rooms, performing duties outside guest rooms, and ensuring guest satisfaction and individual effectiveness.
Primary Responsibilities
- Load carts with all necessary supplies.
- Turn off all electricity (heating or cooling set to fan or cool setting).
- Strip all beds in checked-out rooms and drop all dirty linens to the laundry. Immediately clean new checked-out rooms by turning off lights, stripping beds, and dropping linens.
- Clean the cart and ensure bottles are correctly labeled; pace yourself to meet company time standards.
- Make beds properly.
- Vacuum and sweep carpets and floors.
- Mop floors.
- Dust, brush, polish, and vacuum furniture.
- Clean room decorations, appliances, and structural surfaces.
- Clean showers, tubs, sinks, and bathroom items; remove used guest amenities.
- Inspect rooms for safety hazards and equipment functioning.
- Check for damaged linens.
- Report lost & found items, maintenance issues, or special room problems to a supervisor.
- Prepare rooms for guest arrivals and respond to special requests.
- Maintain cleanliness of storage rooms and stock the cart.
- Remove linens from the housekeeping cart into laundry and send to laundry.
- Record room status on work sheets.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous hotel housekeeping experience preferred.
- Attention to detail.
- Previous customer service experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Walking and standing for long periods (approximately 5-6 hours).
- Pushing a vacuum cleaner.
- Bending, stooping, kneeling.
- Lifting mattresses and arranging furniture.
- Loading and unloading supply carts.
