Job Purpose

Cleans walls, lights, fixtures, and furniture in all assigned areas of the hospital to maintain an aseptic environment and prevent healthcare-associated infection using standard cleaning procedures and chemicals. Cleans, waxes, extracts, and maintains floors, carpeting, and stairwells and assists with heavy cleaning throughout the hospital.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1 year hospital housekeeping experience

The employee is regularly required to lift up to 10 pounds and rarely lift more than 25 pounds.

Special Requirements

Verbal and writing ability required to communicate effectively with employees, clinicians, and medical staff. Numerical and analytical ability required. Ability to receive, comprehend, and carry out instructions; work safely with equipment, supplies, and materials; comply with attendance and Human Resource policies. Ability to proactively prioritize needs, manage resources, and work with diverse teams.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with nursing staff and supervisor to prioritize cleaning, attend to emergencies, and ensure patient safety.
  • Clean patient rooms daily, including floors, furniture, walls, and waste disposal.
  • Maintain cleanliness of restrooms, basins, commodes, tubs, and showers.
  • Perform periodic cleaning of high surfaces and fixtures.
  • Follow safety protocols, attend training, and wear proper identification.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
