Job Summary:

The overall purpose of the Housekeeping Assistant position is to perform scheduled housekeeping tasks as may be assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor. This may include mopping, sweeping, dusting, washing windows, shampooing and vacuuming carpets, arranging furniture, and general cleaning of furniture, equipment, fixtures, and hardware.

Qualifications:

• Experience in institutional housekeeping or maintenance is helpful.
• Experience in the use of floor-care equipment is helpful.
• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.

Essential Functions:

• Clean and sanitize patient rooms, bathrooms, and common areas daily, following facility protocols.
• Use proper chemicals in appropriate portions; mop floors as needed.
• Empties trash containers, replaces liners, and disposes of trash properly.
• Vacuum carpets as directed.
• Wash and dry windows using proper chemicals and equipment.
• Report repair needs to Supervisor or maintenance.
• Request supplies and equipment from Supervisor.
• Identify and correct safety hazards, following safety rules.
• Review and adhere to Cantex policies on Abuse Prevention and Patient Safety.
• Attend weekly in-services and comply with Patient Care Management Systems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
