Job summary

Cantex is seeking a Housekeeping Assistant to perform scheduled cleaning tasks under the supervision of the Housekeeping Supervisor. The role includes cleaning patient rooms, common areas, bathrooms, and offices, and using appropriate cleaning chemicals and equipment.

You will mop, sweep, dust, wash windows, vacuum carpets, and assist with supplies while following facility protocols and safety rules. The position also emphasizes compliance with abuse prevention policies and ongoing in-service

Qualifications

• Experience in institutional housekeeping or maintenance is helpful.
• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and sanitizes patient rooms, bathrooms, and common areas daily per facility protocols.
• Uses proper chemicals in proper portions; may dust mop, wet mop, or spot-mop floors.
• Empties trash containers, replaces liners, and disposes of trash properly.
• Vacuums carpets as directed by Supervisor.
• Washes and dries windows using proper chemicals and equipment.
• Reports repair needs to Supervisor or maintenance department as appropriate.
• Requests needed supplies and equipment from Supervisor.
• Identifies and corrects safety hazards and follows safety rules.
• Reviews Cantex policies for Abuse Prevention and enforces employee responsibilities.
• Attends weekly in-services and complies with Patient Care Management Systems.

This position may mop, sweep, dust, wash windows, shampoo and vacuum carpets, arrange furniture, etc. and generally clean furniture, equipment, fixtures and hardware.

Essential Functions

• Cleans and sanitizes patient rooms, bathrooms, and common areas on a daily basis and in accordance with Facility protocols.
• Uses proper chemicals in proper portions. May dust mop, wet mop, or spot-mop floors.
• Empties trash containers, replaces liners as appropriate and disposes of trash in proper receptacles.
• Vacuums carpets as directed by Supervisor.
• Utilizes proper chemicals and equipment to wash and dry windows.
• Reports repair needs to Supervisor or maintenance department as appropriate.
• Requests needed supplies and equipment from Supervisor.
• Identifies and corrects safety hazards and abides by safety rules.
• Has reviewed Cantex Continuing Care Network Policy and Procedures for Abuse Prevention and knows the employees responsibility to enforce it.
• Attends weekly in-services, understands, and complies with Patient Care Management Systems.
• Responsible for assuring patient/resident safety.
• Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
