Job summary

Cantex is seeking a Housekeeping Assistant to perform scheduled housekeeping tasks as assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor. The role includes mopping, sweeping, dusting, washing windows, shampooing and vacuuming carpets, arranging furniture, and cleaning furniture, equipment, fixtures and hardware.

Essential duties include sanitizing patient rooms and common areas daily, using proper chemicals, emptying trash, and reporting repairs.

Qualifications

• Experience in institutional housekeeping or maintenance is helpful.
• Experience in the use of floor-care equipment is helpful.
• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize patient rooms, bathrooms and common areas daily according to facility protocols.
• Use appropriate chemicals and equipment for cleaning and floor care.
• Empty trash, replace liners and dispose of waste properly.
• Vacuum carpets as directed and wash/dry windows as needed.
• Report repairs and supply needs to Supervisor.
• Maintain safety by identifying hazards and following rules.
• Support patient/resident safety and participate in in-services.

• Cleans and sanitizes patient rooms, bathrooms, and common areas on a daily basis and in accordance with Facility protocols.
• Uses proper chemicals in proper portions. May dust mop, wet mop, or spot-mop floors.
• Empties trash containers, replaces liners as appropriate and disposes of trash in proper receptacles.
• Vacuums carpets as directed by Supervisor.
• Utilizes proper chemicals and equipment to wash and dry windows.
• Reports repair needs to Supervisor or maintenance department as appropriate.
• Requests needed supplies and equipment from Supervisor.
• Identifies and corrects safety hazards and abides by safety rules.
• Has reviewed Cantex Continuing Care Network Policy and Procedures for Abuse Prevention and knows the employees responsibility to enforce it.
• Attends weekly in-services, understands, and complies with Patient Care Management Systems.
• Responsible for assuring patient/resident safety.
• Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
