Position Summary

Our guests are important individuals and should be treated with extraordinary courtesy, respect, and service. The Operations Team ensures our building functions properly for each client or patron, setting up, maintaining, and tearing down equipment for each event while meeting customer needs. Providing superior service is a key role of our Operations Team.

Remember, our guests are our most important concern. They should never be viewed as an interruption; they are our livelihood.

Compensation

This role pays an hourly wage of $13.50.

For Part-Time roles: Benefits include a 401(k) savings plan and 401(k) matching.

About the Venue

Western Kentucky's award-winning Owensboro Convention Center is a full-service facility overlooking the Ohio River in downtown Owensboro, Kentucky. It features nearly 102,000 sq. ft. of space, including a 44,000+ sq. ft. exhibition hall, the Kentucky Legend Pier, and additional meeting and ballroom space.

The Sportscenter, opened in 1949, is a historic 5,000-seat arena hosting concerts, sporting events, graduations, trade shows, and more.

Responsibilities

• Familiarize yourself with venue layout, procedures, and policies.
• Work independently with little supervision.
• Interact positively and productively with guests and staff.
• Maintain control of your assigned sections or areas.
• Anticipate and resolve issues proactively.
• Know building amenities and locations.
• Ensure safety for patrons and staff.
• Use chemicals and equipment safely and properly.
• Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Available for at least half of all monthly events.
• Prior experience preferred.
• Ability to manage high-stress, fast-paced environments.
• Willingness to work various events like shows, conferences, and banquets.
• Friendly, courteous, and positive attitude.
• For Maintenance roles: forklift safety certification is a plus; previous knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment is required.
• Audio-Visual Operators should have prior AV experience.
