Job summary

Selfhelp in New York area is seeking a Home Health Aide to perform light housekeeping for elderly homebound clients and support daily living tasks. You will help with bed linens, laundry, errands, and companionship during visits.

The role requires excellent communication and customer service, the ability to multi-task, and attention to detail; scheduled for 9 AM–5 PM on three weekdays with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and at least one year related experience.
• NYS Department of Health certification preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Able to multi-task and work independently with a great attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Change bed linens, wash and iron clients' laundry, and clean clients' apartments.
• Participate in scheduling of appointments; report issues to supervisor.
• Shop for clients when necessary.
• Accompany ambulatory clients outside home, serving as guide and aide.
• Run errands and obtain household supplies as needed.
• Maintain records of services provided and client condition.
• Report problems to professional staff.
• Adhere to mandatory trainings on compliance and safety.

Position Summary

Performs light housekeeping chores for elderly homebound clients.

Principal Responsibilities

• Change bed linens, wash and iron clientsʹ laundry, and clean clientsʹ apartments.
• Participate in the scheduling of appointments. Report all problems and issues to the supervisor.
• Shop for clients, when necessary.
• Accompany ambulatory clients outside home, serving as guide, companion, and aide.
• Perform variety of miscellaneous duties as requested such as obtaining household supplies and running errands.
• Perform other duties as assigned during non‐scheduled appointment times.
• Maintain records of services provided and of apparent condition of client.
• Report all problems encountered to professional staff.
• Perform other duties as needed or requested.
• Adhere to organization's standards by completing annual mandatory trainings in a timely manner on topics including – but not limited to – Sexual Harassment Prevention Training, IT Security Awareness, Compliance, OSHA, HIPAA and any other training the organization may deem necessary in regards to regulatory compliance or good business practices.
• Supports organization's mission by striving for excellence in all aspects of their job with a focus on positive interpersonal relationship with co-workers.
• Adheres to the organization's policy in regards to absenteeism and appearance

Salary : $17 per hour

Job Competencies & Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) minimum; and at least one-year related experience

Working Conditions/Physical Demand

• May occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock and exposure to pathogens.
• Must be able to travel locally by public or private transportation to make home visits. Valid driver's license, car registration and insurance as applicable.
• Work Schedule will be 9AM-5PM (Any of 3 days of the weekday)
