Job description

Position: Housekeeper/Laundry Aide

Location: Canterbury Woods, Pacific Grove

Position Type: On-call (shift coverage, including weekends, sometimes with short notice)

Summary:

Under the supervision of the Housekeeping Supervisor and/or Assistant Supervisor, performs housekeeping and cleaning duties within established guidelines in assigned areas. Ensures the neat and clean appearance of residents' rooms and common areas.

Responsibilities:
  1. Provide quality customer service to residents, families, co-workers, and vendors to ensure satisfaction.
  2. Perform cleaning tasks such as dusting, washing walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, and door panels.
  3. Vacuum rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, draperies, and hallways; rearrange small furniture as needed; sweep, scrub, and wax floors.
  4. Empty wastebaskets, clean ashtrays, and transport trash to disposal areas.
  5. Clean lobbies, lounges, restrooms, elevators, stairways, and hallways as scheduled.
  6. Report repairs needed for equipment, structures, or furniture; complete maintenance or housekeeping orders promptly.
  7. Assist with laundry and linens as assigned; perform final cleanings for new residents.
  8. Stock and maintain supply rooms; perform all stages of linen processing, including collecting, transporting, sorting, ironing, folding, storing, and delivering.
  9. Maintain cleanliness of laundry machinery and area.
  10. Perform emergency housekeeping duties when accidents or special needs arise.
  11. Follow safety standards, use PPE as required, and participate in safety programs.
  12. Adhere to all policies, health codes, and guidelines, practicing safe work habits to prevent injuries.
  13. Attend all mandatory in-service meetings and comply with department policies.
Credentials:

Education: High School diploma or GED required.

Experience: Housekeeping experience in a facility setting preferred.
