Job description

Essential Job Functions:

1. Perform day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned.
2. Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.
3. Clean/polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, room heating/cooling units, etc., in resident and recreational areas, as instructed.
4. Clean, wash, sanitize, and/or polish bathroom fixtures, ensuring water marks are removed.
5. Clean windows and mirrors in resident rooms, recreational areas, bathrooms, and entrance/exit ways.
6. Clean floors, including sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, disinfecting.
7. Set up appropriate caution/safety signs prior to duties.
8. Clean carpets via vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting.
9. Clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, deodorizing.
10. Remove dirt, dust, grease, and film from surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions.
11. Clean hallways, stairways, and elevators.
12. Discard waste/trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacles.
13. Clean vacant rooms as assigned.
14. Ensure areas are clean and equipment, tools, supplies are properly stored.
15. Discard infectious waste into appropriate containers.
16. Follow work/cleaning schedules as closely as practical.
17. Maintain the facility in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Qualifications:

• High school education or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism.
• Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the public.
• Maintain supplies, equipment, and the appearance of housekeeping areas.
• Willingness to work harmoniously with others and handle residents appropriately.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions concerning cleaning solutions.
• Ability to relate information concerning a resident's condition.
• Must not pose a health or safety threat to others.

Work Environment:

Works throughout the facility, often with interruptions, involving contact with residents, personnel, visitors, and others. May involve working beyond normal hours, including weekends and holidays, and responding to emergency calls. May be exposed to physical injuries, air contaminants, infectious waste, and hazardous chemicals.
