Summary:
The primary purpose of the Housekeeper or Laundry Aide is to perform the day-to-day activities of the Housekeeping and Laundry Departments in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, as directed by the Administrator or Director of Environmental Services. The goal is to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment in the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow work/cleaning schedules diligently.
- Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor, regardless of severity.
- Coordinate housekeeping services with nursing staff during routine cleaning in resident areas.
- Clean, sanitize, and polish fixtures, ledges, heating/cooling units, bathroom fixtures, etc.
- Clean floors through sweeping, dusting, mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and disinfecting.
- Dispose of waste properly and relining trash receptacles.
- Maintain resident confidentiality and report suspected violations.
- Follow safety precautions and proper handling of chemicals and equipment.
- Use personal protective equipment when handling hazardous materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions regarding cleaning chemicals.
- Willingness to work harmoniously with staff and handle residents appropriately.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day.
- Handle mental and emotional stress.
- Lift and move at least 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet and carry it for 50 feet.
