ClearSky Health in Rio Rancho, NM is seeking a dedicated Housekeeper for our rehabilitation hospital. You will maintain patient rooms and hospital areas to ensure a clean, safe environment and support patient recovery.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, and teamwork with staff; prior hospital housekeeping experience preferred; high school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans all patient rooms and ancillary areas using hospital-approved methods.
  • Cleans patient rooms promptly after discharge.
  • Vacuum and clean upholstery and carpet.
  • Replace soiled window draperies; move furniture as directed.
  • Spot clean and wash walls.
  • Clean light fixtures, vents, and other openings.
  • Clean window frames and frames; dust high areas using ladder.
  • Collect soiled linen and distribute clean linen and gowns.
  • Assist in floor upkeep: stripping, waxing, buffing as needed.
  • Collect waste and dispose of bio-waste properly.
  • Follow safety and infection prevention standards.
  • Maintain attendance and perform other duties as assigned.

ClearSky Rehabilitation Hospital of Rio Rancho is a 25 bed, all private room-inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital. We provide superior care and amazing outcomes for our patients who have had something devastating happen in their lives. We are able to join our patients on their journeys, while giving them their independence back. The most exciting thing is when we all participate in the celebration of every patient’s hard work and dedication that they have reached their goals upon discharge. Every time our patient rings the independence day bell and receives their certificate of completion on their rehabilitation, it’s a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do every day. The Housekeeper cleans and services the Hospital to ensure the safety, health, and morale of patients, visitors, and employees, and of patients’ recovery by helping provide a clean, attractive, and safe environment. This position must integrate company values into daily practice.

Essential Functions
  • Cleans all patient rooms and ancillary areas in assigned area using Hospital approved processes and procedures.
  • Cleans patient rooms immediately upon patient discharge from the Hospital.
  • Vacuums and cleans upholstered furniture and carpeted areas.
  • Replaces all soiled window draperies, moves furniture and other equipment as directed.
  • Spot cleans and washes walls.
  • Cleans light fixtures, vents, and other apertures.
  • Cleans window frames, door frames, televisions and other high dusting using ladder when necessary.
  • Collects soiled linen from all patient areas and distributes the clean linen and hospital gowns back to the appropriate unit.
  • Assists in maintaining floors by proper cleaning techniques which include stripping, waxing, buffing, as needed.
  • Collects waste from all areas of hospital, sanitizes garbage cans, and properly disposes of waste and bio-waste if necessary.
  • Strictly adheres to Hospital policies and procedures regarding use of hazardous materials and exposure to body substances and utilizes/wears required protective equipment and/or clothing.
  • Takes daily inventory of supplies and cleans and inspects equipment for any repairs or replacements.
  • Notifies administration of equipment repairs.
  • May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies.
  • Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Assesses the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions.
  • Complies with appropriate and approved safety and Infection Prevention standards.
  • Maintains regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization.
Minimum Job Requirements
Minimum Education & Experience

High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred. 1 year experience in hospital or skilled nursing facility preferred.

Physical Requirements Over the Course of a Shift
  • A significant amount of standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling, often for prolonged periods of time.
  • Lifting/exerting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Possible exposure to bodily fluids.
  • Close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to hear overhead pages.
