Job summary

Mahler Private Staffing is seeking an experienced Housekeeper for a private residence in Chicago. The role requires meticulous cleaning, laundry, organization, and the ability to maintain a guest-ready home with discretion and professionalism.

You will work with a household team, support routine maintenance, and assist with events as needed. Strong English communication, a proven private-household background, and a valid driver’s license are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Daily household chores: vacuuming, dusting, floor care, kitchen organization.
• Laundry and garment care: washing, pressing, steaming, care for delicate fabrics.
• Pack/unpack luggage and prepare wardrobes for travel.
• Assist with routine maintenance around the residence exterior.
• Communicate proactively regarding household needs or maintenance concerns.
• Work with the household team to ensure seamless coverage and guest-ready standards.
• Assist with inventories, supply management and provisioning.
• Assist with hosting guests in the residence.

Housekeeper

Our client is a lovely family seeking an experienced Housekeeper to clean and care for their home.

The right candidate will bring prior experience in a refined private residence or similar household setting, along with excellent communication skills. You must be polished and professional, with the discretion and grace to interact comfortably in a formal private household environment. You must also be a collaborative team player.

Key duties include keeping the home beautifully clean and well organized, managing household laundry, assisting with routine maintenance, performing deep cleaning tasks and occasionally assisting with events.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for daily household chores, including vacuuming, dusting, floor care, and kitchen organization
• Perform laundry and garment care, including washing, pressing, steaming, and caring for fine clothing and delicate fabrics
• Pack and unpack luggage and prepare wardrobes for the principals' travel as requested
• Assist with routine maintenance in and around the exterior of the residence
• Help maintain a smooth daily operation and communicate proactively regarding household needs, preferences, or maintenance concerns
• Work closely with the household team to ensure seamless coverage, consistent standards, and an orderly, guest-ready home
• Assist with household inventories, supply management, and routine provisioning as needed
• Assist with occasional hosting of guests in the residence

Qualifications

• Prior experience in a similar private household or luxury hospitality environment (boutique hotel, yacht, etc.)
• Excellent, verifiable references
• Proven ability to take initiative, work independently, and collaborate effectively as part of a household team
• Strong organizational skills, excellent standards, discretion, and a service-minded approach.
• Must have strong English communication skills
• Must be comfortable working in a home with dogs and children
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Compensation

• Compensation ranges from $45 to $48 per hour, based on experience, and includes a benefits package with health insurance, paid time off, and paid holidays

Schedule

• Generally, Tuesday through Saturday, 10am-6pm
• Flexibility to start later and work evenings as needed
