Job summary

St. John's Hospital in Jackson, WY is seeking a Full Time Environmental Services worker responsible for routine cleaning of public, clinical, ancillary and support areas, waste handling and daily housekeeping tasks.

The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, adherence to safety policies, on-site work, and cooperation with the Assistant Manager Environmental Services to support quality care and financial goals.

Responsibilities

  • Keep hospital environment neat, clean and orderly; perform routine cleaning of public, clinical, ancillary and support areas.
  • Provide routine cleaning to the hospital and LC on a daily basis; assist in maintaining cleanliness of patient areas and offices.
  • Handle and dispose of regular and bio-hazardous waste and sharps following safety protocols.
  • Cross-train in laundry and floor care maintenance as needed; respond quickly to housekeeping requests.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) keeping the hospital environment neat, clean & orderly.Provide routine cleaning to all public, clinical, ancillary & support areas of the Hospital & LC on a daily basis.Responsible for handling & disposal of regular & bio-hazardous waste & sharps. Perform additionalhousekeeping tasks as assigned. Cross train in laundry & floor care maintenance if necessary. Each employeeis equally empowered to assist the hospital in meeting its annual goals of financial responsibility, customersatisfaction & quality care. Each employee shares equally in followingSJH's quality performanceimprovement model to problem solving. Performs duties according to the Scope of Service for EVS.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Routine Cleaning Duties
  • a. Patient Discharge/ resident wash down
  • b. Occupied patient/resident rooms
  • c. Ancillary and support service areas
  • d. Utility Room/Closets
  • f. Offices / Public areas
Other Routine Duties
  • a. Consistently maintains Housekeeping Cart Cleanliness - Replenishes Chemicals and supplies daily.
  • b. Consistently and thoroughly completes daily area assignment sheets - Logs out and returns keys and/or beepers.
  • c. Consistently Practices Universal Precaution Techniques/ body substance isolation procedures by wearingappropriate personal protective equipment. Follows good hand-washing techniques.
  • d. Consistently maintains high level of productivity and takes initiative to perform other duties above andbeyond normal assignments.
  • e. Responds Quickly And Effectively To Calls or Requests For Housekeeping Services.
  • f. Demonstrate knowledge and application of housekeeping chemicals dispensing system (3M twist and fill) byutilizing correct solution for specific cleaning. Disinfecting tasks and promoting cost saving efforts.
  • g. Demonstrates concern for housekeeping areas by cleaning housekeeping closet and equipment in assignedareas daily. Assists in keeping break/locker room area neat and clean.
Other Duties: Patient Safety/General Safety
  • a. Ensure patient safety by maintaining Open Hallway / Exit Thoroughfares, and utilizing wet floor signs,locking bed brakes, and etc.
  • b. Assures compliance with sharps container/needle box procedures by disposing when container is 3/4 full orupon request.
  • c. Demonstrate willingness to follow all St. John's Hospital and EVS departmental policies and procedures.
  • d. Adheres to and practices St. John's Corporate Compliance Program and participates in PerformanceImprovement activities.

FUNCTIONAL DEMANDS
Working Conditions

Working with cleaning agents and potential hazardous or infectious waste. Operating and maintaininghousekeeping, laundry and floor equipment. Working around people who are injured or in hospitalenvironment. Work areas may be crowded, noisy and temperatures may vary. Must be on-site at theSJHCampus to fulfill the responsibilities of this role.

Physical Requirements

Must be physically able to bend, kneel, and raise arms above shoulder level. Must be able to push and pullessential housekeeping, laundry and floor equipment. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be on feet standing orwalking 90% of shift.
