Job summary

Paycom - ATS is seeking a Hospital Environmental Services worker to keep assigned areas clean, sanitary, and aseptic. You will follow PPE requirements and cleaning protocols while maintaining patient privacy and HIPAA compliance.

The role supports multiple hospital departments, including patient rooms and operating areas, with a schedule of early shifts and varying days. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and previous housekeeping experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior experience with common housekeeping equipment preferred.
• Ability to speak, read, write and follow written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Clean and stock work cart daily
• Report unusual findings to the Supervisor
• Report items needing repair to the Supervisor
• Exhibits good ergonomic use of cleaning and other supplies
• Mix all cleaning solutions according to the formula specified
• Respond to pager system in a timely and courteous fashion
• Utilizes supplies and equipment efficiently and cost effectively
• Clean and re-make a neat patient bed
• Dry and wet mop floors
• Operate electrical equipment such as vacuums, stripper-scrubber, buffer and carpet extractor
• Dispose of all trash, including bio trash
• Completes and turns in daily checklist to manager
• Thoroughly and completely cleans and disinfects all areas with attention to detail
• Knowledgeable about departmental processes/procedures and able to clean all areas of the hospital
• Other duties as assigned

BASIC FUNCTION

Keep assigned areas clean, sanitary, and aseptic. Keeps work area and equipment neat and clean.

SHIFT DAYS/HOURS

6:30am 3pm; Days vary. Weekend, On Call, and Holiday hours may be required. Subject to change based on business necessity

Other: Patients, families, visitors, other hospital personnel, medical staff, other medical facility personnel, community program personnel, mortuary personnel, EMS personnel, members of the general public

EXPOSURE TO HAZARDS

To reduce job hazards, this position is responsible for wearing PPE during job functions. PPE can include: gloves, gown/coat, shoe covers, head/face, eye and ear protection. Each job function requires a different level of PPE, individuals receive initial and annual training to identify the appropriate level of PPE required.

Subject to falls from ladders, back injury, slipping and/or falling on wet floors, minor injuries and infections, communicable diseases and exposure to disagreeable sights and odors.

EQUIPMENT USED

Buffer, vacuum, carpet extractor, wet & dry vacuum, mop, cleaning cart, misc. cleaning solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• Experience: Previous experience and use of common housecleaning devices is preferred.

• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to speak, read, write and follow written and oral instructions. Be willing to accept new work methods as well as suggest changes and/or additions. Able to clean skillfully all assigned areas and complete tasks in a reasonable time. Maintain compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality.
• Physical: Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
