Job summary

Optalis Healthcare – ShorePointe in Saint Clair Shores is seeking a Housekeeping Assistant to maintain a clean, safe, and homelike environment for residents, staff and visitors. You will support infection control, survey readiness, and quality of life by performing routine cleaning in resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas.

This role requires the ability to follow instructions, functional literacy, and proper handling of cleaning agents and waste.

• Functional literacy and ability to follow instructions required.

Responsibilities

• Clean resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas daily per facility standards.
• Perform terminal cleaning of resident rooms as needed.
• Clean windows, walls, ceilings, floors, and furniture according to schedules.
• Handle and dispose of waste, including biohazardous waste, per facility procedures.
• Monitor for pests and report concerns to supervisor.
• Assist with emergency cleaning tasks and survey preparation.
• Knowledge of infection control and housekeeping standards.
• Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and chemicals.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• Respect for resident dignity and privacy.

Physical & Work Requirements

• Standing/walking for most of shift; frequent bending and lifting (5--40 lbs).
• Ability to push housekeeping carts (up to 300 lbs with assistance).
• Exposure to odors, chemicals, and wet/humid conditions.
