Job summary

Mercy McMahon Terrace is seeking a dedicated Housekeeper to maintain sanitary, orderly, and attractive hospital environments. You will clean assigned areas, manage biohazard disposal, replenish supplies, and deliver clean linens to patient rooms.

Success depends on reliability, attention to detail, flexibility to take on tasks, and timely reporting of issues, all while upholding safety protocols and infection control standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning duties in assigned areas, such as resident units, public lavatories, lounges, and offices.
• Sweep, dust, dust mop, and wet mop floors and stairways; spot clean and vacuum floors, rugs, carpets and runners. Rotate runners in halls and entryways.
• Collect trash and refuse from work areas and place in designated pick-up areas.
• Clean, sanitize and polish bath, lavatory, showers and sink fixtures and facilities; stock dispensers as necessary.
• Dust, wash, sponge mop, sanitize, and hand shampoo furniture, dust desk and floor lamps, clean and polish glass surfaces, woodwork, walls and windowsills.
• Scrub bath and shower room tiles, woodwork, window frames, and sills.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Housekeeper, you'll clean and maintain assigned areas of the hospital in a sanitary, orderly, and attractive condition to promote a clean and healthy environment for all employees, patients, and guests in accordance with departmental standards.

Every day you will adhere to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials, including bodily fluids or sharp objects. You will apply specialized cleaning techniques to designated rooms and equipment, replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and tissues, and deliver clean linens to patient rooms.

You will be successful in this role if you consistently maintain high standards of cleanliness and infection control while following safety protocols and departmental guidelines. Success also depends on reliability, attention to detail, flexibility to take on additional tasks, timely reporting of maintenance issues, and a proactive approach to responding to emergencies and supporting a safe, healthy environment for patients and staff.
