Job summary

Responsibilities

• Uses an appropriate problem-solving approach to plan services
• Provides cleaning support to non-patient areas without direct supervision
• Cleans and maintains storage areas ensuring they are free from waste and debris
• Provides services with consideration of the physical, psychosocial, cultural/spiritual, and age-specific needs of those served
• Cleans patient rooms adequately and in a timely manner according to department guidelines
• Cleans exam rooms adequately and in a timely manner according to department guidelines
• Uses equipment and supplies correctly
• Demonstrates proper use of equipment by providing quality floor care in assigned areas
• Cleans and maintains department equipment used in daily completion of job duties
• Uses appropriate safety and infection control measures
• While cleaning, checks rooms for inoperative furnishings or fixtures, and reports problems to the department director
• Collects trash and soiled linen from assigned areas, transporting to collection or disposal site
• Teaches, directs, advises and informs others in an appropriate manner
• Assists supervisor with training of new employeesReports and records information correctly
• After cleaning patient rooms, signs off that the rooms have been cleaned and leaves a tent card in each room
• Answers and responds to pages in a timely and courteous manner

Working Conditions

Constant exposure to chemicals; infectious situations; exposed to blood, body fluids, and associated odors; frequent stressful situations.

Physical Requirements

• Medium work
• Lifting 50 pounds maximum
