Dahlia Gardens Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking a Housekeeping Aide to join our team.

What you will do:

The Housekeeping Aide is responsible for assisting in the implementation of a stimulating activity program encompassing physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual activities. Programs will address the needs of all elderly, from active to those with declining physical abilities. The Activities Assistant must present themselves professionally, display genuine concern for the elderly, and act maturely in dealings with others. The programming must include a wide variety of ages and meet the needs of our diverse population. Flexibility with working hours to accommodate evening and weekend activities is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook is necessary. You will:

  • Develop, organize, and implement activity programs to meet residents' social, emotional, physical, and therapeutic needs as identified in their care plans and within budget.
  • Initiate and promote activities both within and outside the facility, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents at all times.
  • Coordinate and verify assistance for residents in activities and events as needed.
  • Provide in-room activities for residents unable to attend daily events.
  • Create an ongoing calendar of activities that creatively meet multiple needs and are accessible and appealing to all genders, ages, and abilities.
  • Maintain standards for activity scheduling and documentation as per policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Engage community groups and organizations in planning activities and events.

What you need:

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
  • Six months to one year of experience or related activity duties.
  • Knowledge of aging process and resident activities.
  • Ability to assume leadership in the Activity Department in the absence of the Activity Director.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Creative and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work with individuals with cognitive, physical, or sensory disabilities.
  • Understanding of how an Activity Department functions in a nursing facility.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for activity programs in long-term care facilities.
  • High energy and enthusiasm with strong interpersonal skills.
