Position will function as Housekeeper for Jennette’s Pier
This is an hourly position with a maximum of 40 hours per week. It is classified as temporary/part-time and does not include state benefits.
DNCR does not engage in dual employment for temporary positions; if you are currently employed with another State agency, State university, or the NC National Guard and intend to remain employed with that entity, you may not be considered for temporary work with DNCR.

The mission of the North Carolina Aquariums is to inspire appreciation and conservation of North Carolina’s aquatic environments through outstanding exhibits, experiences, and customer service, while practicing sustainability and working to restore aquatic species and habitats.
Jennette’s Pier, located in Nags Head, NC, is a 6-acre oceanfront facility featuring a 16,000 sq. ft. building and a 1,000-foot-long fishing pier with wind turbines. This LEED platinum-certified facility offers educational programs, live animal exhibits, recreational fishing, beach access, and marine research opportunities.
Description of Work:
This position at Jennette’s Pier involves maintaining the building, exhibits, and grounds in a clean and neat condition. Responsibilities include cleaning floors, walls, and public areas such as restrooms, classrooms, event spaces, admissions, and parking lots. Routine cleaning of windows, doors, exhibits, and trash removal from containers is required. Weekend, evening, and holiday work may be necessary. Ability to reach, kneel, bend, and lift (up to 25 lbs.) is required.
Applicants will be subject to a background check.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience with cleaning and knowledge of sanitizing products, techniques, and methods.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Equivalent to one year of experience performing manual tasks related to cleaning, following accepted practices. Relevant experience must be included on the application. A resume and cover letter may be submitted with the application.
