Job summary

Cincinnati Country Day School is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our students, faculty, staff, families, and visitors.

The custodian will clean classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas, operate and maintain cleaning equipment, and assist with events and special functions. A high school diploma or equivalent and a professional, team-oriented attitude are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, restrooms, common areas, and other campus spaces, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing high-touch surfaces.
• Maintain housekeeping carts, equipment, and supplies and communicate inventory needs as necessary.
• Identify and report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, and other facility-related issues.
• Assist with cleaning, set-up, and breakdown for school events, athletic activities, facility rentals, and other special functions.
• Participate in seasonal, deep-cleaning, and other special projects.
• Follow established health and safety procedures and properly use and handle cleaning products and equipment.
• Work independently and collaboratively with other members of the housekeeping and facilities teams while minimizing disruptions to school activities.
• Interact courteously and professionally with students, faculty, staff, families, and visitors.
• Perform other housekeeping and facilities-related duties as assigned.

The custodian plays an important role in the school's daily operations by maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of classrooms, offices, restrooms, common areas, and other campus facilities. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and brings a positive and professional attitude to their interactions with members of the Country Day community.

Responsibilities

The custodian will:

• Previous experience in housekeeping, custodial, janitorial, or a related role preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• A dependable, punctual, and flexible approach to work, including a willingness to assist with non-routine tasks and special projects.
• A professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with members of the school community.
• Ability to safely use cleaning products and equipment.
• Ability to successfully complete a required background check.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Bend, stoop, stretch, kneel, and perform repetitive cleaning tasks.
• Lift and carry cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Safely operate housekeeping and cleaning equipment.

This is a full-time, hourly position. The regular work schedule will be established based on the needs of the school. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required to support athletic events, school functions, facility rentals, and other campus activities.
