Job summary

Homewood Retirement Centers is seeking a housekeeping team member to maintain a clean, orderly and safe living environment across the facility. The role emphasizes confidentiality of resident information and adherence to policies while supporting daily cleaning tasks and equipment use.

Ideal candidates demonstrate strong hygiene, the ability to lift up to 40 pounds, and reliable teamwork in a fast-paced senior care setting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and printed instructions.
  • High degree of personal hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Able to push/pull housekeeping carts and lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Able to stand, walk, bend and twist during an eight-hour shift.
  • Operates housekeeping and laundry machines (floor machines, wet vacs, washer, dryer).

Responsibilities

  • Provide a clean, orderly and safe living environment throughout the facility.
  • Treat all resident information as confidential.
  • Follow established policies and procedures and maintain standards.
  • Operate housekeeping equipment in a safe manner.
  • Perform daily cleaning (dusting, mopping, disinfecting) in assigned areas.
  • Keep areas stocked with supplies and assist in moving furniture.
  • Maintain neat and orderly furniture arrangement.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.

Job Summary:

Provides a clean, orderly and safe living environment throughout the facility.

Essential Functions:
  1. Treats all information about residents, their condition, and family as confidential information.
  2. Complies with established Corporate and Departmental policies and procedures, and maintains established standards and practices.
  3. Responsible for proper operations and cleaning of housekeeping equipment in a safe manner.
  4. Performs housekeeping functions in accordance with the Infection Control Program and understands the Right To Know Program.
  5. Performs general daily cleaning (dusting, mopping, sterilizing, disinfecting, sweeping, etc.) in assigned work areas.
  6. Keeps assigned areas furnished with supplies.
  7. Assists in moving resident’s furniture and personal belongings.
  8. Keeps furniture in an orderly and neat arrangement.
  9. Performs other functions as directed by the supervisor
Qualifications:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. Ability to understand and follow oral and printed instructions.
  3. High degree of personal hygiene and cleanliness.
  4. Ability to do repeated pushing and pulling of sweepers and housekeeping carts, and lifting or carrying a minimum of 40 pounds throughout an eight hour shift.
  5. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, twist and turn frequently throughout the course of an eight hour shift
  6. Operates housekeeping and laundry machines, i.e., floor machines, wet vacs, washer, dryer, etc.
Physical Requirements:

Must be able to constantly work on their feet during an 8 hour shift; bend, stoop, twist, and turn constantly throughout the shift in performing regular duties. Must be able to lift buckets of water, full trash bags, boxes of cleaning supplies, and the like. Must be able to handle the frequent motions and repeated pushing and pulling involved in using electric floor equipment, wet mops, large brooms, cleaning carts with buckets of water on them, etc. Must be able to lift and transfer a minimum of 40 pounds to do these functions.
