Job summary

Jaybird Senior Living in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a dedicated Housekeeper to deliver a warm, clean, and welcoming environment for residents and staff. The role covers cleaning apartments, laundry, and common areas while supporting overall safety and beauty of the community.

You will follow individualized service plans, maintain supplies, use PPE, and respond to alarms. A high school diploma or GED is required; experience with seniors and excellent communication are valued.

  • Identify hazards and report unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Document maintenance needs and submit work orders as needed.
  • Respond to smoke or fire alarms appropriately.
  • Answer phones and assist residents, visitors, and staff.
  • Participate in safety committees and bi-weekly trainings.
  • Uphold confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Follow OSHA guidelines and state regulations for assisted living.
  • Complete incident reports as required.

Overview

We are seeking a Housekeeper to join our team. Our Housekeepers deliver the “Red Carpet Treatment” to every resident, visitor, and team member. You’ll play a key role in creating a warm, clean, and welcoming environment where residents feel valued and cared for every day. This position involves cleaning apartments, laundry, and common areas, while helping maintain the overall beauty and safety of our community.

Responsibilities
  • Provide weekly housekeeping services and any additional services outlined in residents’ Individualized Service Plans.
  • Maintain and manage inventory, requisition, and storage of all cleaning and laundry supplies.
  • Use personal protective equipment and cleaning chemicals safely and appropriately.
  • Ensure cleanliness in apartments, common areas, dining spaces, and other community areas.
  • Identify hazards or unsafe conditions and report them promptly to management.
  • Document maintenance needs and submit work orders when necessary.
  • Respond appropriately to smoke or fire alarms.
  • Answer phones courteously and assist residents, visitors, and team members as needed.
  • Participate actively in safety committees, staff meetings, and bi-weekly in-services.
  • Uphold confidentiality and HIPAA regulations at all times.
  • Follow all OSHA safety guidelines and state regulations related to Assisted Living.
  • Complete incident reports as required for residents, self, or co-workers.
