The Housekeeper contributes to our mission by providing cleaning services that ensure a safe and welcoming environment. Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, scrubbing, wiping, and cleaning with approved chemicals across all hospital areas, including patient rooms, sterile zones, clinical departments, offices, and public spaces. Duties also involve waste disposal, linen management, and maintaining equipment in accordance with regulations and hospital policies.

Essential Functions:

1. Sanitize all hospital areas following established policies.
2. Disinfect patient rooms and bathrooms daily.
3. Perform terminal cleaning after patient transfers or discharges.
4. Maintain cleanliness of nursing stations, non-patient care areas, laundry rooms, restrooms, sitting areas, and dining rooms daily.
5. Clean floors and carpets, including buffing, stripping, waxing, and shampooing as needed.
6. Follow infection control procedures, including isolation cleaning and universal precautions.
7. Manage linen and waste disposal according to procedures.
8. Maintain and monitor cleaning equipment and monitor linen supplies.
9. Report equipment issues and complete work requests for repairs.
10. Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

Educational / Experience:

Ability to read and write for labels and inventory; high school diploma preferred; minimum six months hospital housekeeping or janitorial experience, or one year related experience.

Skills:

Effective communication, ability to supervise and work cooperatively, knowledge of infection control and safety principles, CPR certification, and completion of Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation training.

Work Environment:

Requires good communication skills, knowledge of providing age-appropriate housekeeping services, supervisory abilities, and a working knowledge of infection control and safety principles. CPR and behavioral health de-escalation training must be completed.
