Job summary

Leisure Living is seeking a dedicated environmental services assistant to maintain clean resident rooms and common areas in our senior living communities in Michigan. You will follow cleaning schedules, disinfect rooms, launder linens, and ensure safe, inviting spaces for residents and staff.

Responsibilities include carpet and floor care, laundry duties, waste disposal, and promoting respectful, professional communication with residents and coworkers.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior housekeeping or cleaning experience preferred.
  • Ability to follow schedules and safety protocols.
  • Strong communication with residents and staff.
  • Capable of multi-tasking and maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Clean, disinfect and straighten resident rooms, work areas and common spaces per schedule.
  • Vacuum carpets, mop floors, clean sinks, and dispose of trash.
  • Perform laundry duties as directed and maintain clean facilities.
  • Promote positive relationships with residents, staff and visitors.
  • Adhere to safety and infection control guidelines.

Responsible to provide a clean environment for residents.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Clean, disinfect and straighten resident rooms, work areas and common spaces according to cleaning schedule, which may include but not be limited to:
    • Clean carpets, furniture and draperies with vacuum cleaner or shampooer
    • Sweep, scrub and policy hard floors using broom, mop or power scrubber
    • Scrub and disinfect sinks, tubs, toilets and bathing rooms
    • Dust and polish furniture and metalwork
    • Wash windows, sills and doors
  • Clean and disinfect spills and soiled areas as needed or directed
  • Deep clean according to schedule
    • Move and straighten furniture
  • Maintain cleanliness of unoccupied rooms to make them attractive for resident occupancy
  • Empty wastebaskets and properly dispose of trash
  • Collect, wash, dry, fold and distribute laundry as directed
  • Ensure equipment is stored properly
  • Promote positive relationships with residents, staff and visitors

Perform any other duties as requested within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the job.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education and Experience

High school diploma/GED required.

Computer Skills

Must have demonstrable knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office in a Windows environment, with a capacity to master company specific software.
