Job Title: Household Manager
Location: Reading, MA 01867
Employment Type: Part-time, 10-15 hours per week
Proposed Start Date: ASAP
Schedule: Two days per week, ideally Monday and Wednesday or Friday, from 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM. Occasional evenings as needed.
Compensation: $30-35/hour, based on experience
Requirements:
We're a lively family of four (plus an attention-loving cat!) with a full and fast-paced life. Our kids are very involved in sports and both parents work full time, with one of us in a role that requires lots of late nights and travel. With all the competing schedule demands, we’re realizing that we need someone who can help us keep our household running smoothly.
We already have some great support in place for our kids and home, but we’re realizing our village isn’t complete. Rather than looking for additional childcare, we want to intentionally offload some of the household tasks that pile up so we can focus on spending time with our kids. It is rare that we are all together as a family at the same time, and we want to soak up that time together - not spend the evening ticking items off a to-do list. We want to rest easy knowing that our home is calm, organized, and prepared - that’s where you come in!
We are looking for someone who works quietly and confidently behind the scenes, who takes care of the details, and who we can trust and rely on over time. The right candidate is someone who takes pride in their work, respects our family dynamic, and feels like a natural extension of how our household operates.
You are highly independent, proactive, and flexible. You anticipate what a family needs before they realize they need it, and you take ownership of your responsibilities. You are discreet by nature and move through the home with professionalism and care.
You communicate directly and confidently, including following up when needed and being upfront rather than waiting to be prompted. You are reliable, detail-oriented, and someone who reads the room well. You bring a grounded, can-do energy and adapt fluidly.
You are also warm and naturally at ease around children. While direct childcare is not a large part of what we need, we want someone who can build rapport with our kids and step in for an occasional date night. We value someone who can get to know all of us, so our needs can be preempted and systems can be implemented. We are hoping to find someone who can be flexible and grow with our family as our needs evolve.
Day-to-day, we are looking for assistance with organizational projects, laundry, tidying, pet care, errands, and calendar support. While we don’t need any help with cooking or planning meals, would love for someone to take on some grocery shopping and light meal prep or be available to keep an eye on dinner in the oven.
