Job summary

Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to serve as House Supervisor on the night shift. You will oversee nursing staff, ensure safe, compassionate care, and coordinate with the multidisciplinary team in a private, 182-bed facility focused on mental health and addiction treatment.

The ideal candidate holds a Florida RN license, has supervisory experience in a psychiatric or behavioral health setting, and demonstrates strong clinical judgment and

  • Current Florida Registered Nurse license in good standing.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Ability to supervise and direct nursing care.
  • Effective English communication in writing and speaking.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct the nursing staff during night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM).
  • Ensure safe, high-quality psychiatric and general medical care for patients.
  • Coordinate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to implement individualized care plans.
  • Monitor patient status and respond to changes in condition.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records.

Qualifications

Education/Training

  • Current license to practice in Florida
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English through written and verbal means.
  • Ability to effectively supervise and/or direct the implementation of individualized nursing care.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluation of situations and/or making nursing decisions.

Experience:

  • A minimum of one (2) year in a Psychiatric Behavioral Health Center environment or health-care facility treating, mentally ill, or chemically dependent patients, with understanding of co-occurring disorders, and Cultural Linguistic Diversity amongst patients.
  • Must have supervisory experience

Licensure/Certification:

Current Florida State Registered Nurse License

Current Florida Driver's License

Current CPR Certification

Must pass a medication administration exam and complete a basic developmental competency exam.

Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, & interventions with patients.

Knowledge of milieu management.

Ability to direct subordinates in the performance of their duties. Ability to accurately administer medication and monitor side-effects.

Ability to safely implement Special Treatment Procedures.

Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families

Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation

Sensitive and aware of diverse cultures and their practices
