Qualifications
Education / Training
  • Current license to practice in Florida
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English through written and verbal means.
  • Ability to effectively supervise and/or direct the implementation of individualized nursing care.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluation of situations and/or making nursing decisions.
Experience
  • Minimum of two years in a Psychiatric Behavioral Health Center environment or health‑care facility treating mentally ill or chemically dependent patients, with understanding of co‑occurring disorders and cultural‑linguistic diversity among patients.
  • Must have supervisory experience.
Licensure / Certification
  • Current Florida State Registered Nurse License
  • Current Florida Driver’s License
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Must pass a medication administration exam and complete a basic developmental competency exam.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, & interventions with patients.
  • Knowledge of milieu management.
  • Ability to direct subordinates in the performance of their duties; accurate medication administration and monitoring side‑effects.
  • Ability to safely implement Special Treatment Procedures.
  • Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation.
  • Sensitivity and awareness of diverse cultures and their practices.
