Nexus Children’s Hospital – Dallas is seeking an experienced Nursing House Supervisor to provide clinical leadership and hospital oversight during the night shift. This on-site role guides staff, coordinates staffing and patient flow, and responds to clinical and operational needs across units.

You will mentor nursing staff, ensure safety and quality, maintain regulatory compliance, and partner with physicians to sustain continuous pediatric care.

Nexus Children’s Hospital – Dallas is seeking an experiencedNursing House Supervisor to provide clinical leadership and hospital oversight during the night shift. Our interdisciplinary teams care for pediatric patients with complex medical, neurobehavioral, and rehabilitation needs, combining compassionate care with an individualized approach to recovery.

As the on-site nursing and administrative resource, you will guide staff, coordinate staffing and patient flow, and respond to clinical and operational needs across all units. What You’ll Do

Provide Clinical and Operational Leadership

  • Serve as the primary on-site nursing and administrative resource during assigned night shifts, including weekends and holidays as scheduled.
  • Provide clinical oversight, guidance, and support to nursing staff across all units.
  • Coordinate admissions, transfers, discharges, and bed management to support safe, timely patient care.
  • Assess patient acuity and adjust staffing assignments and resources to meet changing needs.
  • Participate in clinical rounds, support escalation of care, and coordinate responses to emergencies and critical incidents.
  • Partner with physicians, nursing leaders, and other departments to maintain continuity of care and resolve operational concerns.

Support Patients, Families, and Staff

  • Promote compassionate, respectful care for children with complex medical and behavioral health needs.
  • Address patient and family concerns promptly, using clear communication and sound judgment.
  • Support staff in therapeutic communication, de-escalation, and the safe management of challenging behaviors.
  • Coach and mentor nursing staff, provide performance feedback, and help resolve conflicts.
  • Identify learning needs and reinforce clinical competency, accountability, and professional development.

Advance Safety, Quality, and Compliance

  • Monitor adherence to clinical standards, hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and infection prevention practices.
  • Conduct safety rounds and audits to identify risks and support corrective action.
  • Report and assist with investigations of incidents, near misses, and patient complaints.
  • Collaborate with quality and risk management teams on improvements that strengthen patient safety and care delivery.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and maintain accurate documentation using electronic health record systems.

Manage Resources Responsibly

  • Balance staffing needs with patient acuity, safety, and responsible use of hospital resources.
  • Approve and monitor overtime and agency staffing in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Promote efficient use of supplies and provide input on staffing trends and operational needs.
What You’ll Bring

Education and Experience

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Minimum ofthree years of clinical nursing experience, includingat least two years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • At leastone to two years of pediatric nursing experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
  • Experience caring for patients with medical and/or behavioral health diagnoses strongly preferred.

Clinical and Leadership Skills

  • Strong nursing assessment skills and clinical judgment in complex or high‑acuity situations.
  • Knowledge of medication administration, acute illness management, and emergency response coordination.
  • Ability to prioritize competing needs and make timely decisions during rapidly changing situations.
  • Effective communication, staff coaching, conflict resolution, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
  • Ability to provide compassionate support to patients and families during stressful situations.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical technology.

Licensure and Certifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Texas.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required, valid for at least six months from the date of hire.
  • ACLS and PALS, as required by the assigned unit, through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, valid for at least six months from the date of hire.
  • Completion of de‑escalation training within 30 days of hire.
  • Maintenance of all required certifications in good standing throughout employment.
