Qualifications

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of an RN, the CNA performs basic patient care activities.

Reports to: House Supervisor

Responsibilities of the Position:

Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possibly taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.

Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, grooming, eating, and ambulation.

Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.

Assists with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean and orderly.

Must be willing to work in/float to the following areas of the hospital: Women & Infants, Passive Care Unite, Medical Surgical, Transport, & the Emergency Department.

Must be available a minimum of 24 hours per week to work.

Must be available to work a minimum of one winter and one summer hospital designated holidays.

Must be available to work a least (2) weekend shifts per month. (Saturday/Sunday or night shift).

Other tasks and duties as assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Completion of Certified Nursing Assistant program is required.

Certifications/Licenses

Certifications: Active Certified Nursing Assistant certification , Basic Life Support (BLS) is required through American Heart Association (AHA) within 30 days of hire.

Required Skills

Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Must have at least 6 months of relevant CNA experience. Hospital experience is preferred.
