Job summary

The University of Utah College of Health and Department of Physical Therapy & Athletic Training seeks individuals to support a study evaluating rehabilitation in aging populations. Primary duties include enrolling participants, tracking retention and follow-up, and performing data collection with patients and study staff.

This work-study role offers exposure to clinical research coordination, collaboration with PT researchers, and an opportunity to learn Good Clinical Practices and regulatory

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as a University of Utah student with Federal Work-Study.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Experience with clinical research and HIPAA/IRB knowledge preferred.
  • Completion of CITI training within one month of hire.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Enroll participants and track retention and follow-up assessments.
  • Perform data collection activities and interact with patients and staff.
  • Comply with CDC immunization requirements and training.</p>
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with RedCap.

Job Summary

The University of Utah College of Health and Department of Physical Therapy & Athletic Training is seeking individuals to support a study evaluating rehabilitation across aging populations. The primary responsibilities of the persons working in these positions are to enroll participants, track retention and compliance with follow-up assessments and perform data collection activities. They will interact with patients and with other research staff on the study team.

This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with Physical Therapist Researchers to coordinate, manage, and implement clinical research.

Responsibilities

This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. Work Environment and Level of Frequency that may be required: Nearly Continuously: Office environment. Seldom: Infectious disease, oils (there is air or skin exposure to oils or other cutting fluids). Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be required Nearly Continuously: Hearing, listening, talking. Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing), walking, standing, sitting. Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead. Preferences: Able to communicate proficiently in English Completion of University RATS Clinical Certification within one year of hire required. Completion of CITI Human Subjects and Good Clinical Practice Training within one month of hire required.

Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written. Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices, HIPAA and IRB regulations; an understanding of research procedures; and the ability to function independently is preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software programs.

Minimum Qualifications

EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT : 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:
  • Research Assistant, I: Requires little to no related experience.
  • Research Assistant, II : Requires at least 1 year of related experience.
  • Research Assistant, III : Requires 3+ years of related experience.
