Job summary

Salt Lake City Corporation is seeking a part-time hourly receptionist for the Youth and Family Division. You will greet visitors, answer phones, and assist with program literature and inquiries. The role requires a high school diploma and customer service experience.

The position offers a 20-hour workweek with a schedule from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and includes duties from admissions to event support within a friendly public service environment.

  • One year paid experience in cashier/receptionist roles.
  • Ability to work well with the public, coworkers and supervisors.
  • Working knowledge of computers and standard office machines.

Responsibilities

  • Greet the public in person and over the phone.
  • Provide information and referrals to inquiries.
  • Transfers calls or takes messages for staff as needed.
  • Create and print flyers describing current programs.
  • Update and maintain program literature/brochures.
  • Keep the reception area clean and organized.
  • Ensure current information is displayed at the reception area.
  • May assist with admissions/Youth registrations and equipment checkout.
  • Assist with event setup and takedown as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

We are looking for a Part-time Receptionist to provide clerical and receptionist support for the Youth and Family Division. This position is responsible for greeting the public in person and over the phone, responding to questions and concerns as needed, and maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area.

Position Wage

$18.00/hr. - $21.00/hr.

Work Schedule

8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. (Monday through Friday)

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides excellent customer service in answering telephone calls at the reception area and responding to patron’s concerns and questions.
  • Transfers calls or takes messages for other staff members when necessary.
  • Provides information and referrals to the public inquiries.
  • Creates and prints flyers describing the current programs.
  • Updates and maintains current programs’ literature/brochures.
  • Keeps reception area clean and organized.
  • Ensures accurate and current information/pamphlets are kept at the reception area.
  • Maintains a professional atmosphere within the reception area.
  • May accept admission and/or Youth registration.
  • May check out sports equipment/or other equipment to patrons.
  • May assist with preparation, setup and takedown of events.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent and/or formal training in secretarial, customer services, public relations or related field.
  • One (1) year paid work experience performing cashier and/or receptionist functions.
  • Ability to work well with co-workers, other employees, supervisors and the general public under adverse circumstances.
  • Working knowledge of computers and standard office machines.
  • Ability to follow instructions and make minor decisions in accordance with City ordinances, departmental policy and established operational procedures.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
Desired Qualification

Bilingual preferred.

Working Conditions

Light physical effort. Moderately comfortable working conditions, handling light weights, sitting for prolong periods of time, intermittent standing. Intermittent exposure to stressful situations as a result of human behavior. Occasionally required to work weekends and evening hours. Working hours varies depending on business need.
