Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Use various measuring devices.
- Use the computer for lot tracing.
- Able to operate a Walk Behind.
- Must be able to work and function in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic knowledge of computers.
- Must be able to read and interpret Product Criteria (PC) and Activity Instructions (AI).
- Must be able to function as a team member and work under general supervision.
- Maintain expected quality levels.
- Comply with all site policies and procedures, including EHS, Quality, Code of Conduct, and the LaPorte Employee Guidebook.
- Work overtime as needed.
Job responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
A full-time Utility Worker should proficiently perform at least 3 of the following:
Dewaxing Molds
- Retrieve molds from wind tunnel and log dates on serialized/non-serialized sheet in dry room when molds are ready for dewax.
- Load molds into vacuum chamber.
- Drop nuggets, vent molds, steam dewax molds, push and pull molds from stoich oven, and maintain proper paperwork.
- Inspect vacuum pump and steam dewax units daily.
- Place molds on wire trucks.
Cutting Alloy
- Identify weight and properly locate alloy into the alloy bins.
- Maintain proper alloy ticket rundown for each oven.
- Pull alloy tickets and retrieve alloy needed for specific jobs.
- Cut alloy to proper weight, chamfer ends, remove dust, and weld hooks or two-piece charges as needed.
- Load alloy for shipment to HLC.
- Maintain equipment, including changing belts and blades.
- Maintain accurate paperwork.
- Hold a valid Fork Truck license and be able to perform as an Alloy Cutter.
Material Cutter
- List molds coming off dewax return rail with job number and quantity.
- Locate mold wrap instructions.
- Cut materials to size.
- Place materials on wire shelving for mold wrappers.
- Work with engineers on new wrap instructions.
- Maintain accurate paperwork.
Mold Wrappers
- Retrieve molds from inspector or staging area.
- Locate wrap instructions and cut materials.
- Mix mud.
- Wrap molds and place in preheat staging area.
- Work with engineers on new/improved wrap instructions.
- Maintain accurate paperwork.
Oven Pushers
- Locate molds for ovens.
- Check job numbers, lot numbers, and mold quantities.
- Cross-check serial numbers with trace sheets or routers.
- Place molds on oven tray as per instructions.
- Push molds into oven and log into systems.
- Maintain accurate paperwork.
Chamber Loaders
- Check oven temperatures.
- Remove molds and place in vacuum chamber.
- Apply post-cast cooling agents.
- Set up lower casting unit as needed.
